LENDONWOOD FALL PLANT SALE SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 24
A wide variety of plants will be for sale to benefit Lendonwood Gardens on Saturday, September 24, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., during the garden’s Annual Plant Sale. This year, more than a dozen kinds of plants will be available for purchase. Additional donations of seeds and plants are welcomed.
Plants on sale will include daylilies, irises, hostas, columbines, Japanese maple seedlings, cannas, crape myrtles, Louisiana iris, surprise lilies, hen-and-chicks, monkey grass, and more.
Anyone interested in donating plants or seeds should contact volunteer Ela Johnson at 816-749-8493.
“Now in its third year, our Annual Plant Sale has been a great success, both for buyers and for the garden,” said Jim Corbridge, president of the Lendonwood Board of Directors. “As in the past, many of the plants on sale will be drawn from Lendonwood itself, but others are being donated by friends of the garden.”
Corbridge said, “We are grateful to everyone donating plants, seeds and bulbs to support Lendonwood. Our non-profit botanical garden depends on the continuing help of volunteers, friends, donors and the community.”
The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the back of the garden near the Maintenance Barn. Customers should use the driveway just west of the Welcome Center at 1308 Har-Ber Road. Parking will be available around the sale area.
Lendonwood is open every day from dawn to dusk. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Children 12 and under and members are free. Plant-sale customers will be admitted free of charge on the day of the sale.
The garden’s new Welcome Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4 p.m., including during the September 24 plant sale. The Center includes a gift shop, meeting room and handicap-accessible restrooms.
Lendonwood is an eight-acre, non-profit botanical garden in Grove, managed by a Board of Directors. The garden is maintained by volunteers and supported through memberships, donations and admission fees.
