Lendonwood Gardens kicked off construction of a new Welcome Center Wednesday, August 26, with volunteers, community members and board members digging in the dirt – and plenty of rocks! The new facility, located at the garden’s front entrance, will offer space for ticket sales, a gift shop, restrooms, a meeting room, and storage. Volunteers are being sought to help staff the new Welcome Center when it opens next spring.  Participants in the groundbreaking ceremony included, from left:  Cindy Reynolds, board member; Jim Reynolds, vice-president; Jim Corbridge, president; Ray Geis, board member; Michele Norwood, board member; Robert Carter, Grove Rotary Club president; Damaris Fields, volunteer; Judy Scarriot, board member; and Shirley Daggett, volunteer.  Lendonwood, a privately-owned botanical garden, is open to the public year-round, from dawn to dusk.
